Bridge
vitalsource: Bridge
Bridge is a product in VitalSource that provides an alternative to a Learning Management System (LMS). The user spectrum for Bridge is pretty wide, but the majority are publishers or institutions within the US or internationally based. This product allows admins to create a custom URL link that provisions content on demand to their users. They can set it up as a library system, where users check books in and out, give credits out for activating books, or set specific prices for each book.
When I was assigned to this product, it already existed in a somewhat piecemeal design. I was given the task of reevaluating the UX flow, as well as redesigning the UI. I worked with the product manager and developers to create the design below. First shown is the admin interface where a Bridge is created. Second is the user interface where content is acquired.
Admin UI Design
User UI design
Because the admin tool has customizing options for their Bridge, I had to be conscious while designing how those options would shape the user side. An admin can upload their own logos and choose their own primary and secondary colors, so keeping the design as simple as possible was a necessity. Allowing an admin to feel their product was custom made, as well as keeping the design clean was one of the design challenges. The user side also needed to respond to mobile devices without losing any functionality. I worked on both desktop and mobile versions to create a full user experience.
